Stuart was born and raised in Crewe and apprenticed in Engineering at Crewe works and South Cheshire college. He is certified with a BTec ONC modern Apprenticeship in mechanical and electrical engineering meaning that he is perfectly qualified to be Engineering Manager at Avocet Materials Group. Stuart spent many years travelling throughout Europe and the Americas installing machinery, thinking on his feet, and solving problems but seeing much less of family that he preferred.

He joined Avocet in January 2022 and readily embraced the problem of an imported innovative new machine arriving without an installation team due to Covid and the need to get it up and running. Achieving this goal in just over a week has set a very high bar for the future. Stuart is an inspiring engineer and leader with these skills no doubt inspired from watching his dad repair things when he was small.

He now has sons of his own and a quality of life and work life balance that allows him to see them growing up and also coach the under 11 rugby team, of which ABM sponsor. As a key member of the Avocet team his engineering skills are at the forefront of the innovation in Avocets products.
